Yesterday J and I went to see Mattafix (a hip-hop band out of UK) performing tracks from their new album “Signs of a Struggle”. Roots and a sense of belonging are themes that appear lyrically in their songs with a heavy influence of reggae, dancehall, and hip hop. The band also managed to deliver some political stuff. The singer implored the crowed; “If you don’t believe in Bush or Blair, put two fingers in the air”. The crowd was happy to comply.

The concert was held at a club here in my hometown, the crowd was loud and happy and Eagle eye Cherry was there to hear the band. He seemed to enjoy it as much as I did, J on the other hand was not that impressed from a musical point of view. He decided that the drummer was great and that the band really tried their best.

I met one of my eldest friend C there at the bar. We first met when we were like four or something in that neighborhood and there has never been a fling, just truly nice friendship. Apparently he has quit his job as Brand Manager at the large fast food chain and moved back to my town after living in the south of Sweden for the past 1½ year. It was nice seeing him and good for him to be back in town again.
