From the monthly archives: May 2006

The Football World Cup 2006 is drawing nearer. Me and the girls have decided to watch the first Swedish game together, the one where “we” (it’s always we as long as we are winning) meet Trinidad Tobago on June 10th. We are going to some Sports Bar to view the spectacle on widescreen TV.

I found out that it just so happens that if you want to show your full support for our team, or any team I guess, you are supposed to grow a World Cup moustache. The rules you ask? Well they are simple; A World Cup moustache consists of facial hair on the upper lip.

Just grow it

Thick or thin, dark or fair (or red for that matter) all moustaches are welcome. Though a regular everyday moustache may be full but a World Cup moustache is Super-full. It should not be grown longer than to the corner of the mouth. No later than the 9th of June should this pride and joy be safely in place smack in the middle of the party face below the slightly red nose.

Even though this is a rather daunting task for us girlies we are going to give it our best with some alternative to facial hair and as it turns out anything goes.

J has just made me dinner and we’re sitting in my sofa just mellowing. Today is Ulrika’s birthday and we have been over to her place to give her presents and to eat cake, delicious green “Princess cake”. I’m going to do my laundry and then do some packing; I’m leaving for London on Friday. Yeah baby, yeah =)

Packing

Ulrika and I are going to visit some of her friends in London for a couple of days. I’m going to go to all those places I missed that one other time I was there in 1988 or something like that. My itinerary contains Notting Hill, Soho, Camden Lock Market, Portobello Market, Tate Modern and British Museum. Other than that this trip is pretty much open.

This is going to be soooo fun =)

This weekend Joachim and I went to visit my father and sister in Västerås. My sister turned 20 so we had some cake at her place before going to my father’s to eat supper. This was the first time J got to meet the other part of my family so this whole “meeting the parents” thing is over, and of course J did great =) My family really like him.

On our way back to Stockholm from Västerås we passed Barkarby Airstrip where there was kind of an air show going on. We even got to go for a quick flight circling over Stockholm City. Really nice!

Later on the same night we went and saw Eskobar at Tyrol (at the fair). The concert was so-so but the company was as always excellent. We went for a ride with the Roller coaster before we walked back to town and met up with the guys at La Camera where we staid until late. This was a really good weekend, let’s have more of those.

I feared it would never end but it seems this working day is finally over. Tjohoooo!
We are going to T-bar to really take advantage of their Champagne Happy hour…consider yourself invited.

Yesterday me, J and two friends went to the yearly flee market at Hornstull. There were stalls on every sidewalk where people sold off their stuff. I made some shopping; I got a red tee with a yellow lion on it (very nice), a pair of brand new red high heels and three CDs.

J and I were suffering a severe hang over from the night before so when we were through with wandering from stall to stall we sat down at the café Rosso to have something to eat. If there is something that I dislike it is getting bad service. I ordered a toast and when it finally arrived (it felt like forever until it turned up) I must say it was the sorriest looking toast I have ever laid eyes on. It was covered of little bits of charcoal and there were virtually no cheese in-between the two loafs of bread. Needless to say I left it without taking a bite. But all in all it was a very good weekend filled with laughter and love.

During the party on Saturday my friends came up to me one after the other telling me what a wonderful man I’ve met…and he IS lovely isn’t he =)

If I lived in the US a trip to the local Dunkin’ Donuts would be a daily ritual. I could just kill for a delicious loop right about now.

Our little country not only made it to the finals in the World hockey games, we totally rocked and won the gold medal beating the Tjeck Republic. Sweden is the first nation to ever win the two largest tournaments, the Olympics and the world cup in the same season. Guess those long cold winter days here in Sweden are finally paying off. At 17.30 today the “Tre kronor” team will receive their congratulations from the fans in Kungsträdgården.
